[GBA Thrills] Yacht Free Travel Scheme Boosts Greater Bay Area Tourism
: :

The Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Yacht Free Travel Scheme has officially launched, with the first batch of more than 20 yachts from Hong Kong and Macao arriving at designated ports in Zhongshan, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Zhuhai. Zhongshan, a Greater Bay Area city with 42 kilometers of coastline, is expected to see a significant boost to its tourism sector.

At the yacht club in Shenwan Town, the inaugural group of yachts underwent joint clearance by customs, immigration, and maritime authorities, reducing processing times from several hours to just a few minutes. Skippers praised the efficient procedures and scenic routes, describing the experience as highly enjoyable.

Under the current policy, Hong Kong and Macao yachts holding temporary mainland vessel registration can travel freely among nine Greater Bay Area cities and engage in leisure activities within designated zones for up to 180 days. Zhongshan has introduced yacht tourism routes featuring local attractions such as the Sun Yat-sen's Former Residence, Yaji Mountain, and Shenwan pineapples, aiming to stimulate tourism development. Visitors from Hong Kong and Macao have welcomed the scheme, noting that the extended stay period allows for a more in-depth exploration of mainland cities.
