The rapid expansion of artificial intelligence is driving strong growth in Shenzhen's air freight industry, as exports of AI-related products continue to climb.
Demand has risen across the AI supply chain, from computing power infrastructure to terminal devices, prompting manufacturers to prioritise faster delivery to overseas markets. High-value, compact products such as AI solid-state drives are increasingly transported by air despite higher shipping costs, allowing companies to keep pace with fast product cycles. One Shenzhen manufacturer reported that exports of AI-focused storage devices have risen by nearly 180 percent since the start of the year.
The boom extends to upstream industries supporting AI infrastructure, including cloud computing equipment, semiconductors, optical modules and fibre optic cables. Logistics providers have seen AI-related orders surge since the second half of 2025, with first-half volumes this year already exceeding last year's total. Large shipments have even required chartered cargo aircraft to meet tight delivery schedules.
