[Green Highlights] UNESCO World Biosphere Network Welcomes Two Reserves in China
: :

The United Nations Educational, Scientific & Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has recently added 26 new biosphere reserves to its world biosphere network, including the lush Zhouzhi and Daqingshan nature reserves in China!

According to UNESCO, in order to qualify for this international recognition, these reserves must serve as "learning places for sustainable development,” seamlessly integrating biodiversity conservation with sustainable use of ecosystems.

The Zhouzhi National Nature Reserve in northwest China's Shaanxi Province boasts impressive vertical vegetation zones that are home to over 3,630 species of wild flora and fauna. These include the Qinling giant pandas, golden snub-nosed monkeys, and hoofed golden takins, which look like a cross between a goat and a cow. On the other hand, the Daqingshan Biosphere Reserve in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, north of China, is another biodiversity hotspot spanning thousands of square kilometers.

To date, 34 nature reserves in China have been UNESCO-recognised. China is committed to staying deeply engaged in global ecological conservation, advocating for a flourishing relationship between nature and mankind.
