The 2025/26 Hong Kong horse racing season galloped into action at Sha Tin Racecourse on September 7, drawing more than 43,000 spectators across the city’s two venues. Among them were 7,000 visitors from mainland China and overseas, highlighting the event’s international appeal.

Fans were treated to a wave of new experiences, from the Champions Connection grandstand hub with interactive digital zones, to a virtual hall of fame where six legendary racehorses come alive in 3D. Adding to the excitement was “Gensō Eki”, a four-storey attraction featuring a virtual riding simulator, an AI photo booth called GensōSnap, and themed dining spaces designed for immersive, Instagram-worthy moments.

As part of the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s HK$10 billion reinvestment – with another HK$4 billion to follow – these innovations aim to captivate younger audiences while elevating the thrill for seasoned fans alike. Mainland visitors praised the unique atmosphere, Australians lauded the world-class energy, and even Stanford business school students joined the crowds, soaking up the excitement!
