Hong Kong’s men’s foil team won gold at the Fencing World Cup in Paris on January 11, delivering a strong and composed showing from start to finish.
Led by Ryan Choi and Edgar Cheung, alongside Mike Lam and Cheng Tit-nam, the team progressed smoothly through the knockout rounds, defeating Qatar 45–26, Poland 45–30 and a team of independent athletes 45–34. They then beat Japan 45–32 in the semi-finals to advance to the final against world No.2-ranked United States.
Facing a higher-ranked opponent, Hong Kong maintained control to secure a 45–38 victory. Lam stood out with his confident performances, while Choi closed the match with a decisive 5–0 run.
The result marks Hong Kong’s first team gold of the 2025–2026 season, following earlier outings in Spain and Japan.
