Hong Kong has claimed third place in the 2025 Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI), rising from fourth last year, as announced by CrescentRating and Mastercard. Singapore retained its top spot, with the UK in second, while Taiwan and Thailand completed the top five.
Hong Kong’s ascent reflects its growing Halal-friendly appeal, with 61 certified hotels and 153 Halal-approved restaurants. The city also shined in new categories, ranking #1 for Muslim-friendly accessible travel (non-OIC) and #2 for Muslim women travelers (non-OIC).
Standout winners included The Mira Hong Kong and Kowloon Shangri-La (Hotel of the Year), Ngong Ping 360 (Attraction of the Year), and the Hong Kong Convention Centre (Exhibition Venue of the Year).
Globally, Muslim traveler arrivals surged 25% to 176 million in 2024, with projections hitting 245 million by 2030—solidifying Halal tourism as a powerhouse sector.
