At this year’s China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), sci-tech innovation took centre stage in showing how technology can transform the way people experience sports.

The five-day event, which opened early September in Beijing, featured a Sports Services exhibition with five vibrant zones. Visitors tried out racing simulators that recreated road bumps, pushback and even weightlessness – tools that have the capabilities to support professional drivers in training. Virtual reality brought table tennis, skiing and basketball to life, while the “Chinese Eagle Eye” system, powered by AI and high-speed cameras, showcased its precision in making accurate referee calls in football and tennis.

For the first time, a low-chlorine pool system using advanced AFM filtration technology was displayed, ensuring water purity at near-drinking standards, with the technology already adopted for this year’s National Games. Outdoor areas pulsed with interactive sports, sparking energy and participation. As exhibition organizer Xiao Jingli noted to a Chinese news outlet, such innovations not only enhance enjoyment but also boost sports consumption and drive quality economic growth.
