The Hong Kong Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) achieved remarkable success at the 51st International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, earning 11 awards, including five golds, five silvers, and one bronze.

Several of the recognised projects were facilitated through the E&M InnoPortal, which has been connecting government technological needs with innovative solutions from the innovation and technology sector since 2018. This platform has helped promote wider application and commercialisation of innovative E&M technologies, with the recent awards underscoring its impact.

The department’s gold-medal projects highlighted breakthroughs in robotics, artificial intelligence, and sustainable energy – including an AI-enabled water tank cleaning robot and AI-powered fault detection tool for healthcare cooling systems. Other awards recognised innovations in UAV inspections, mixed-reality tools, and automated maintenance technologies.

The Geneva exhibition, held from March 11–15, featured around 1,000 inventions from 35 countries, judged by an international panel of experts.
