Humanoid robots have once again entered a new operational domain. A real-world testing event for humanoid robots was recently held at the scenic Sayram Lake in Xinjiang.
One of the highlights was a human-robot dombra duet. The dombra, a traditional Kazakh plucked instrument, features soft strings and requires exceptional rhythm and force control—skills that typically take years to master. Yet after only three days of targeted training, the competing robot performed with remarkable precision, delivering a smooth and melodious performance that amazed even professional musicians.
Equally impressive was the human-robot horseback archery challenge. The robotic horse navigated rugged terrain—including deserts, steep slopes, and ravines—with ease, supporting long-distance transport and stable mobility, while the humanoid robot focused on precision tasks such as aiming and releasing arrows. The system shows strong potential for outdoor applications, including mountain patrols, wilderness search and rescue, and plateau geological surveys.
The competition also featured multiple Xinjiang-specific real-world scenarios to collect comprehensive field data, which will be used to train humanoid robots for broader applications and continuously enhance their performance.
