[Inno&Tech] China's "Artificial Sun" Ignites Clean Energy Future
: :

In Hefei's research hub, Chinese scientists are turning science fiction into reality with Kuafu - a groundbreaking "artificial sun" facility that could revolutionize how we power our world. This massive testbed simulates solar conditions to develop practical fusion energy solutions, marking China's latest leap in the global clean energy race.

The facility builds upon China's existing fusion expertise, including the record-breaking EAST tokamak on nearby Science Island. Inside Kuafu's circular vacuum chamber, researchers will superheat hydrogen isotopes to stellar temperatures exceeding 100 million degrees Celsius - recreating the same fusion process that powers our sun.

What makes this project extraordinary is its potential to deliver safe, sustainable energy without carbon emissions or long-term radioactive waste. While commercial fusion power remains decades away, each experiment at Kuafu brings us closer to harnessing star power here on Earth. As one researcher noted, "We're not just chasing scientific milestones - we're lighting the way to humanity's energy future."
