Hong Kong sailor Nicholas Bezy Halliday has made history by claiming the city’s first gold medal at the 15th National Games.The 26-year-old triumphed in the Men’s ILCA 7 event on Wednesday (October 29) after finishing fourth in the final round. With his lowest score deducted, Halliday secured victory with a net total of 33 points, capping off an outstanding performance that saw him consistently lead the standings.Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law Shuk-pui praised Halliday’s performance, calling it “a demonstration of his strength and perseverance.”Halliday will receive HK$750,000 under the Jockey Club Athlete Incentive Awards Scheme for his golden achievement.The 15th National Games will officially open on November 9, though several competitions have already kicked off ahead of the ceremony. Sailing was among the first events, held in Shanwei, Guangdong Province, from October 20 to 30.
