Shenzhen has launched regular drone cargo services connecting the city with Hong Kong, marking a new milestone for the Greater Bay Area’s low‑altitude economy. The unmanned aerial vehicles carry time-sensitive goods between Shenzhen and designated handover points in Hong Kong, cutting delivery times from hours to under one.
Building on earlier pilots at Futian Port and intercity drone corridors linking Shenzhen with Zhongshan, the service highlights Shenzhen’s leadership in drone logistics. The city now operates over 300 low-altitude logistics routes and 1,200 take-off and landing sites, producing around 70 percent of China’s consumer drones and half of its industrial models.
For Hong Kong, the initiative serves as both a regulatory experiment and a practical logistics solution. The city’s low-altitude sandbox includes paired drone pads in the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Zone, enabling fast delivery of medical supplies, electronics, and critical documents, easing road congestion while supporting e‑commerce and manufacturing connections.
