Hong Kong audiences will have a chance to revisit the remarkable career of Cheng Pei-pei as the Hong Kong Film Archive (HKFA) presents "Chivalry and Grace - In Memory of Cheng Pei-pei" from October 2 to December 4.

Part of the "Morning Matinee" series, the programme will screen 10 films spanning romantic drama, wuxia, kung fu and comedy, highlighting the actress's remarkable range beyond her celebrated image as the "Queen of Wuxia Films".

A trained dancer, Cheng became a star in the 1960s, captivating audiences with her graceful yet commanding portrayals of swordswomen. Her versatility was equally evident in films such as "Hong Kong Nocturne" (1967), where she showcased her dance skills, and the spy comedy "Operation Lipstick" (1967).

Her later performances further demonstrated her breadth, from the physically demanding kung fu role in "None but the Brave" (1973) to the tender drama of "Painted Faces" (1988) and her memorable comedic turn as Madame Wah in "Flirting Scholar" (1993).
