Dance drama “Harmony in Eternal Melody” will bring the rich heritage of Jing-Chu culture to Hong Kong in September as part of the Chinese Culture Festival 2026.

Presented by the Hubei Opera and Dance Drama Theater, the acclaimed production draws inspiration from ancient bianzhong bronze chime bells and explores the pursuit of harmony amid political turmoil during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods.

The production blends graceful yet powerful Chu-style dance with contemporary stagecraft, featuring movements inspired by ancient rituals, mythical creatures and Wunuo traditions. A 1:1 replica of the renowned Bianzhong of Marquis Yi of Zeng, alongside projections, lighting and sound, will recreate the grandeur of ancient Chu.

“Harmony in Eternal Melody”, a National Arts Fund 2025 project and 18th Wenhua Award winner, will be staged at 7.30pm on September 18 and 19 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Grand Theatre as part of the Chinese Performing Arts Hong Kong Season.
