Shenzhen has rolled out its first full-time autonomous bus service on urban open roads, marking a milestone in smart mobility within the Greater Bay Area. Operated by Shenzhen Bus Group, the complimentary Route B888 began service on August 26, linking the Luohu Port border crossing with the MixC Mall.
The L4-level minibus takes passengers past some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the Guomao Building, Shun Hing Square, and Shenzhen Grand Theatre. To enhance the experience, a smart waiting pavilion has been set up at the Luohu Port stop, featuring interactive exhibitions and convenient check-in services.
Designed with cross-border travellers in mind, the service also offers trilingual announcements in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English, as well as dedicated landmark introductions along the journey.
The debut of Route B888 not only highlights Shenzhen’s capabilities in smart transport, but also showcases the GBA’s vision of blending technology with essential urban connectivity.
