Creative merchandise from China’s 15th National Games is flying off the shelves across Guangdong, as fans rush to snap up themed souvenirs celebrating the tri-regional event co-hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau.
More than 20 licensed products, from plush mascots and emblem fridge magnets to commemorative coins and blind box figures, have become instant hits, with some stores running out of stock amid soaring demand.
Among the most sought-after items are Xiyangyang and Lerongrong, the Games’ adorable mascots inspired by the endangered Chinese white dolphins. A new blind box series blending the Games’ theme with Journey to the West has also drawn huge crowds.
“I just queued for five minutes to buy it… It’s for my mom, because she loves it,” said one customer in Guangzhou.
Store manager Mo Qiongyi said, “All peripheral products for the National Games are incredibly popular,” adding that more varieties will arrive in the coming days.
The 15th National Games will run until 21 November.
