The annual Guangzhou International Light Festival once again transformed the city’s skyline, showcasing a vibrant array of light art installations across key landmarks. For the first time, Canton Tower, the Guangzhou CTF Finance Centre and the Guangzhou International Finance Centre synchronised a grand, city-spanning light show, becoming a spectacular visual centrepiece.

Running from 16 to 26 November, this year’s edition featured 36 installations along the new central axis and the Pearl River waterfront, with 24 buildings presenting dynamic projection displays. The breakout star of the 15th National Games Opening Ceremony, the golden, dragon-headed Aoyu fish, also made a dazzling return, drawing cheers and a flurry of camera flashes.

Interwoven with the floral landscapes of the Guangzhou Garden Expo, the festival created a richly immersive experience. One visitor praised the event as “very fashionable and creative”. Another highlight, the themed installation “Crown”, symbolised athletic excellence, with designer Huang Guanhua noting it represented “the various stages of athletes’ struggles and efforts” during this year’s National Games.
