[GBA Thrills] Village Villa Turns Idled Houses into a Rural Tourism Loop

In Mutouchong Village in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province in southern China, neat blue-brick and redwood homes line quiet lanes. One stylish standalone homestay now stands out. Built around the village’s natural setting in a minimalist modern Chinese style, the villa blends Lingnan rural character—the regional aesthetic of southern China—with simple, elegant interiors, and serves as a venue for lodging, leisure, business, and private gatherings.

The homestay has helped boost local spending. Nearby restaurants and shops are seeing more customers, and the project has generated new income for the village collective and individual households, giving Mutouchong fresh momentum in cultural tourism.

Locals are renovating idle stone houses and tapping the area’s ecological and cultural assets to create a diversified tourism circuit. The village is developing a loop of homestays, flower fields, pottery workshops, camping areas, beach access, and dining options, offering visitors a varied rural escape close to the city.
