In recent years, the low-altitude economy has taken off. Zhuhai Lianzhou Airport has become a popular hub for aviation enthusiasts in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area, with flight activity increasing by nearly 80% year on year.

As a general aviation airport, Lianzhou Airport offers services including helicopter takeoff, landing, taxiing, and parking. Many clients from Hong Kong and Macao are attracted by its favorable environment, comprehensive facilities, competitive pricing, and convenient proximity—visiting for flight training, obtaining licenses, and parking private aircraft.

The airport has also expanded into new areas such as drone pilot training and test flights, fully leveraging its potential. To date, Lianzhou Airport has provided test flight services to nine technology companies and trained 116 professional drone pilots. Recently, the airport signed agreements with agencies from Hong Kong and Macao to systematically offer drone training to these markets for the first time, directly addressing their demand.

The airport director stated that future efforts will focus on flight training, drone testing, aviation education, general aviation tourism, and maintenance support, with the aim of becoming a key driver of the low-altitude economy in the Greater Bay Area.
