China’s Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area has taken another step in advancing its commercial aerospace ambitions, with construction officially beginning on the Guangzhou Aerospace Town project.

Located in Guangzhou, the development will cover more than 574,000 square metres along a riverside site with direct access to port facilities, including two dedicated 5,000-ton berths for transporting large aerospace equipment.

The project is designed to create a comprehensive commercial aerospace ecosystem, bringing together key sectors such as reusable space transportation systems, satellite manufacturing and related applications. By integrating research, production and logistics capabilities, the aerospace town is expected to strengthen the region’s role in China’s rapidly growing space industry.

The initiative also supports broader efforts to develop the Greater Bay Area into a world-class economic and innovation hub, with commercial aerospace emerging as a new driver of high-quality growth.
