The China-Europe Railway Express has continued to provide a stable and efficient connection between Asia and Europe despite global uncertainties, supporting cross-border trade and strengthening supply chain resilience, the National Development and Reform Commission said.

With advantages including all-weather operations, high capacity, efficiency and lower carbon emissions, the rail network has become an important alternative for businesses when traditional sea routes face disruptions. New corridors, including the Trans-Caspian route and services through Türkiye, have further expanded transport options.

The rail express has also boosted industrial development through the “rail-plus-industry” model, supporting sectors such as electronics, manufacturing, new energy and cross-border e-commerce in cities including Xi’an, Chengdu, Chongqing and Zhengzhou.

During the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), China plans to further enhance the network by streamlining customs procedures, improving route scheduling, expanding logistics hubs and strengthening rail, road, sea and air connectivity with partner countries.
