The Cherry Blossom Garden on Airport Island opened on 29 January, offering visitors a refreshed and expanded springtime retreat.
This year, the garden has grown to include a new waterfront section along Tung Chung Bay, with 39 newly planted cherry blossom trees and walking trails. The expansion creates a more open setting and additional vantage points for enjoying and photographing the blooms.
The cherry blossom variety, known as “Haoyunlai”, originates from Guangzhou and is recognised for its dense buds, vivid pink petals and strong heat resistance, making it well suited to Hong Kong’s climate. The flowers typically remain in bloom for one to two weeks.
Access has also been improved with a new footpath, shortening the walk from Tung Chung MTR Station by about 200 metres and allowing visitors to reach the garden without crossing roads or using stairs.
First established in 2023 at the foot of Scenic Hill, the garden has expanded annually and now features a total of 160 cherry blossom trees across the area.
