Hong Kong's Public Libraries will launch the Summer Library Festival 2026 this July and August, encouraging readers of all ages to explore the theme "Happiness Trains – Discovering Treasures of the Soul" through books and interactive activities.

Families can enjoy storytelling sessions combining games, conversations and creative activities, helping children discover happiness in everyday life while giving parents new ways to connect through stories. Workshops will be available in Cantonese, Putonghua and English.

A wide range of hands-on activities will also be offered, including dried flower night lamps, wishing bottles, cat paw squishy toys and STEAM workshops where participants can create marine life with 3D printing pens or build celestial body models. Teenagers and adults can join planet lamp painting and embroidery workshops.

The festival also extends beyond libraries, with sensory-inclusive activities, guided tours and storytelling at Kowloon City's Stone Houses Family Garden on July 25 and 26. Libraries across multiple districts will host cultural experiences, talks, exhibitions, photo spots, STEAM workshops and other community activities throughout the festival.
