[Inno & Tech] Greater Bay Area Expands Nuclear Energy with Hualong One
: :

A new nuclear power unit using China’s domestically developed third-generation Hualong One reactor has officially begun construction in Huizhou, Guangdong Province, marking another milestone in the country’s clean energy expansion.

The No. 4 unit at the China General Nuclear Power Group’s Taipingling Nuclear Power Plant is the first Hualong One project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and signals the start of the plant’s Phase II development.

Designed with fully independent intellectual property rights, the Hualong One reactor has a rated output of 1,209 megawatts per unit and is regarded as one of the world’s most advanced and mature nuclear technologies.

The Taipingling plant will eventually comprise six Hualong One units built in three phases. Once fully operational, the facility is expected to generate around 55 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually, strengthening the Greater Bay Area’s transition towards a greener, low-carbon energy future.
