Chinese-made AI glasses are seeing strong sales growth, driven by consumer subsidies and rising international demand. In January, AI glasses were included in China’s national subsidy programme for the first time, allowing consumers to receive a 15 percent discount on eligible purchases.
The policy has helped boost interest in the emerging product category. At Huaqiangbei in Shenzhen, one of the world’s largest electronics markets, shoppers are increasingly exploring AI-powered eyewear that offers functions such as photography, video recording, voice calls and real-time translation.
Retailers report growing demand across a wide range of products, with prices spanning from around 100 yuan to 5,000 yuan.
The market is also attracting overseas buyers, many of whom are purchasing AI glasses for resale after testing demand in their home markets. According to data from JD.com, transaction volume for mainstream smart AI glasses surged by more than 200 percent year on year in May, highlighting the sector’s rapid growth and expanding global appeal.
