Two adorable new stars have arrived in Guangzhou, adding extra excitement to the countdown for China’s 15th National Games this November. Twin giant pandas You You and Jiu Jiu reached Guangzhou Zoological Garden on Tuesday from the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, accompanied by their caretakers and veterinarians.

Born in Madrid in 2021 and returned to China last year, the playful brothers are now settling into their new home, joining resident pandas Xing Yi and Ya Yi. Their arrival also marks the start of a five-year scientific and educational exchange program, highlighting Guangzhou’s commitment to wildlife conservation and public awareness.

Once fully adjusted, You You and Jiu Jiu will be officially introduced to visitors, with a series of panda-themed events planned to coincide with the Games. Together, sport and pandas promise to bring an extra spark of joy and charm to the city’s celebrations.
