Preparations and early competitions for China’s 15th National Games are well underway across Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, showcasing strong coordination and enthusiasm as the main event draws near.
In Shanwei, Guangdong, the sailing events set sail on Monday, bringing together 228 athletes from 17 provincial teams to compete for 10 gold medals. To ensure seamless logistics, over 1,400 passenger vehicles have been deployed to support participants’ travel during the Games.
Across the province, cities are ramping up readiness. Dongguan held a full-scale rehearsal to fine-tune emergency response capabilities, while Zhuhai gathered more than 1,500 volunteers from eight universities to assist in events such as cycling, race walking, and tennis.
In Shenzhen, the finals of the aviation modelling competition and the Go board game event have already ignited public excitement. “I hope our team members can compete at their best and communicate with Go masters from other teams to improve Hong Kong’s overall competitive level in the Go,” said Lok Yan Avery, a Go coach of the Hong Kong team to a Chinese news outlet.
