Imagine stepping straight from a high-tech aviation conference into a world of ancient alleys, vivid Cantonese embroidery, and roaring lion dances. That was the reality for a group of international delegates in Guangzhou China, who took a break from discussions on cutting-edge aviation technology to immerse themselves in the rich Lingnan heritage of Yongqing Fang.
Strolling through the grey-brick alleys, the foreign visitors were captivated by the intangible cultural heritage crafts on display. A guest from Spain was so taken with a pair of kapok flower earrings made with Cantonese embroidery that she bought them on the spot.
Patricia / Spanish guest:
"It's very beautiful, and I love to bring a piece back to Spain. It symbolizes Chinese culture, so very nice."
The Cantonese Opera Art Museum next to Yongqing Fang staged lion dance performances and traditional craft exhibitions for the guests, who were thoroughly immersed and lavish in their praise.
Rami / British guest:
"(This is my) first time in China. I prefer to see like something historic, something cultural, so museum or anything that talks about the culture of the Chinese people, I'd love to see that."
Guan Jian / Travel Agency Staff:
"We arranged guides well versed in traditional culture, so that the charm of Lingnan culture and "China Travel" could be conveyed to our guests in the shortest possible time."
