Recently, a new smart convenience store opened in Guiyang, western China, and has taken the city by storm—not just for its spaceship-like look, but because it's run by a single robot. Dubbed the world’s first retail solution with an embodied AI agent operating 24/7, the store relies on a large-model robot named Galbot, which acts as the “smart store manager” and runs the place autonomously.
People are flocking to experience this taste of “unmanned retail.” As customers approach, Galbot raises its left arm to wave hello. Shoppers simply tell the robot what they want, and it responds verbally, guiding them through the payment process. Stocked with items such as drinks and a coffee machine, the robot precisely retrieves the ordered product and hands it over.
Visitors describe the experience as something straight out of a sci-fi movie, praising the robot’s accuracy and futuristic vibe. “It really feels like the future is here,” customers say. Developers report that the response has been overwhelmingly positive and that they will continue upgrading Galbot to provide even smarter, more convenient service.
