[Inno & Tech] China Unveils Ultra-High-Strength Carbon Fibre Breakthrough
: :

China has unveiled a new ultra-high-strength carbon fibre developed independently by domestic researchers, marking a significant breakthrough in the country’s advanced materials sector and helping fill a key gap in the global market.

The material, known as T1200-grade carbon fibre, was developed by the China National Building Material Group. With a diameter less than one-tenth that of a human hair, the fibre combines remarkable strength with an exceptionally light weight.

Its tensile strength is around 10 times that of conventional steel, while its density is only about a quarter of steel, offering a powerful combination of durability and efficiency for high-performance uses.

The new material has already entered industrial-scale production, moving beyond laboratory development. According to developers, China is now the first country to achieve mass production of T1200-grade carbon fibre on a hundred-ton scale.

With its outstanding performance characteristics, the breakthrough is expected to support a wide range of strategic emerging industries, including humanoid robotics, aerospace technologies and the rapidly developing low-altitude economy.
