Guangzhou is the world’s leading hub for performance equipment, accounting for nearly half of the global market and over 85% of China’s domestic market. The 2026 Guangzhou International Exhibition of Performance Equipment & Intelligent Sound and Light Products was recently held, showcasing the industry’s latest technologies and earning its reputation as a true “bellwether of the sector.”

Products such as weatherproof haze machines, the world’s first rainproof four-head fog cannon, and variable-speed confetti blasters were highly sought after by global buyers. One Guangzhou-based manufacturer, which developed China’s first stage fog machine with electronic temperature control in 2003, has since created over 200 stage-effect devices widely used in galas, light festivals, and music events.

The exhibition also drew participants from the tourism sector, who noted that cultural tourism sites are emerging as a new application frontier for stage equipment. Night cruises on the Pearl River, along with several shopping malls and parks, are already using sound, light, and power technologies to create stunning scenes—integrating technology into attractions is a growing trend in tourism.
