The DF3000 "Youlong," the world's first large hybrid tiltrotor passenger electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, developed with the participation of the Institute for Aero Engine, Tsinghua University, has successfully completed its maiden flight in hybrid mode within designated airspace. During the flight, the aircraft successfully completed hover tests and a full series of flight maneuvers, demonstrating outstanding flight performance, highly efficient hybrid power system coordination, and precise flight control responses. It adopts a hybrid architecture combining distributed electric propulsion with a series range-extender power generation system, making it well suited to complex urban low-altitude environments and a wide range of operational scenarios. The breakthrough brings a new generation of "air buses" one step closer to commercial operation. The aircraft has a maximum takeoff weight of 3,000 kilograms and a maximum payload of 600 kilograms, accommodating seven to eight passengers. It has a cruising speed of 300 kilometers per hour, a maximum range of 1,000 kilometers at full load, and an endurance of more than four hours.
