A heartwarming celebration was held at the Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park and Botanical Garden on Saturday (Nov 22), marking seven years since two giant pandas, Gong Gong and Shun Shun, arrived in Haikou, the capital of south China’s Hainan Province.

To commemorate the occasion, panda keepers prepared a special five-course feast themed “Seven Years”, blending local cultural elements with strict nutritional and dietary standards for the 12-year-old male pandas. Among the creative dishes were the “Seven-Star Qiong Bamboo Feast” and the “Li Brocade Seven-Coloured Meal”, inspired by the vibrant brocade of Hainan’s Li ethnic group.

The pandas enjoyed their feast while visitors gathered to watch and take photos, turning the event into both a celebration of the pandas’ milestone and a showcase of Hainan’s wildlife and cultural heritage.
