[HK Thrills] West Kowloon Dazzled by Hong Kong’s Biggest Figurative Lantern
: :

The West Kowloon Cultural District was transformed into a glowing wonderland, as the Chinese Costume Carnival brought towering lanterns and festive celebrations to the Victoria Harbour waterfront.

At the centre of the festivities stood the 12.8-metre “Hong Kong Fairy” – the largest figurative lantern ever displayed in Hong Kong.

Crafted over six months and inspired by the bauhinia flower, it symbolised peace, prosperity, and the enduring beauty of the city.

Created using the renowned Zigong lantern-making techniques from Sichuan, a national intangible cultural heritage, the lantern blended traditional craftsmanship with modern lighting technology.

Its floral and landscape motifs also added a touch of romance to the National Day celebrations.

The carnival drew more than 10,000 visitors, filling the promenade with joy, laughter, and vibrant energy.

Residents and tourists alike captured photos, admired the illuminated lanterns, and enjoyed the stunning harbour skyline.

It was a lively celebration that created lasting memories, marking this year’s National Day with culture, colour, and community spirit.
