The focus going forward should be on tackling core technologies in key fields, strengthening intellectual property protection, and accelerating the translation of research into real-world applications—all to secure self-reliant supply chains and sharpen global competitiveness through original breakthroughs.   The government work report and the draft of the 15th Five-Year Plan prioritize high-level self-reliance in science and technology as a central mission, setting the direction for high-quality growth in biomedicine. An NPC deputy from the sector said that industry players will double down on original innovation, focusing on major diseases to overcome core technological barriers. The goal is to develop first-in-class and best-in-disease drugs that place China-made innovative medicines on the global map.   The report also lays out a bold green agenda—boosting the low-carbon economy and scaling up zero-carbon industrial parks. For the integrated circuit (IC) industry, the strategy is clear: drive breakthroughs, nurture the sector, and improve market regulation.
