A new exhibition in Hong Kong is bringing one of the world’s most iconic paintings to life through immersive storytelling and digital innovation. Centred on the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci, the show runs from 1 May to 27 July 2026 at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum as part of the French May Arts Festival 2026. Titled “Meet Mona Lisa & Portraying the Renaissance”, the exhibition combines interactive installations with rare artworks from leading institutions in France and Italy. Visitors can journey through over five centuries of history as the Mona Lisa herself “guides” them through her evolution, from a commissioned portrait never delivered, to a global cultural icon. Alongside this, Renaissance treasures, including manuscripts attributed to da Vinci, paintings, and everyday objects, offer insight into a transformative cultural era. Works by contemporary artist Xu Lei further bridge past and present, highlighting the enduring influence of Renaissance ideals.
